Woodward and Bernstein where bought and payed long time ago. You have only two options in this business; eighter you let yourself to corrupt or to be killed. Or just step aside.
As a student of journalism, I must say this is really one of the great movies, excellent take on how long and tiring a proces investigative journalism can be. Sadly a genre of journalism that the media have steadily less and less money to make, or will.
your sentiments seem spot-on, but woodward did extensive bush/cheney coverage, most of it was supportive, until the end. e.g. when he released state of denial-his ultimate condemnation of the administration, in 2007 maybe? interesting book. but i don't think it excused woodward's general sign-off on bush, which he gave to the admin after 9/11. seemed like everybody but hs thompson, zinn, chomsky, vidal and kucinich were happy to participate in post 9-/1 revisionist state religion.
This movie was horrible. Good idea, good cast, great performances... but the absolutel worst, confusing script, cinematography and a very weak take on the subject matter.
Best scene. I've watched this film about thirty or forty times in the past few years and I never seem to tire of it. Alan J. Pakula was legend.
This of course is the deputy director of the FBI talking to a reporter in a parking garage.
I'm writing a ten page paper on this for journalism class! Fuck Machiavellianism!
Who is Climategate's Deep Throat?
Hal Holbrook is sexy as Deep Throat!

One of the all-time great scenes from one of the all-time great movies.
I would love to know what Woodward and Bernstein could dig up on Bush/Cheney except these days nobody gives a damn anymore because their told it's to protect the country which translated means if you don't allow us to do this illegal sh*t your gonna die. Too bad the American people fall for this crud.
