HOME
WPLS is a student-operated radio station at Furman University that serves the entire Furman community as well as local, national, and international audiences. We stream 24/7 and offer a variety of other content via our website such as exclusive in-studio recordings and a local concert calendar. All students, faculty members, and employees of the university are welcome to join our staff.
Our Mission
As an organization, WPLS strives to promote a culture of appreciation for music and the arts at Furman, in the City of Greenville, and beyond.
We value community and believe community is strengthened when people enjoy music together. In the spirit of independent media, we offer an extensive variety of programming at the discretion of each host.
Celebrating 73 Years
Originally launched in 1940 as a low-power AM station, Furman boasts one of the oldest radio programs in the Upstate, predating today’s campus by well over a decade. Over the years, the station switched to FM and launched an online stream in the 2000s. Beginning in 2012, WPLS stopped broadcasting on FM and became a streaming-only organization.
